The petition currently has just over 69,000 signatures, but it remains open to signatures until April 2014 and will be considered for debate by the Backbench Business Committee should it pass the 100,000 signature threshold.

 

Cycling initiative updates
Four bicycle stand planters have been installed in the centre of Hadlow. Bikes can be locked to the planters, which are looking great with lot’s of flowers and some vegetable and herb plantings.

New Biofuels report shows how Europe is driving hunger
Up to 100 million people could go hungry as the developed world demands more and more ‘green’ biofuels, a report has warned. A decision by European nations to power at least ten percent of transport by biofuel by the decade’s end is proving disastrous for poorer countries, according to ActionAid. If demand for the crops to make biofuel increases, prices will go up,meaning millions of people will not be able to afford the most basic foods, it warned.
