We’ll be having our last seed swap for this season on Thursday 14 March at Shipbourne Farmers Market.
The weekly market will be open from 9am-11am, and this time we’ll be in the church, not having to shelter from the wind and rain like last Sunday.
Our second seed swap at Tonbridge Farmers market on 10 March was a very successful day, with many people bringing their own seeds – including a well-loved squash, of potimarron stock, some interesting purple podded beans and peas. Over 20 people have signed up to being part of a local seed share group, with some being keen to take part in seed-saving training – and a growing interest in sharing locally resilient seeds.
Big thanks to Steve Wood, the organiser of the Tonbridge market for donating almost 60 packets of various seeds to our swap and for his support of our project.
PS: We had a cold but sunny morning at the seed swap, with some very keen growers as well as tiny tots dipping into our lucky dip box. It’s also been interesting to chat to some of the other stallholders, organisers and a local food writer.
