Here’s a list of local Apple Day Celebrations taking place around National Apple Day 2010
Saturday 16th October 11am – 5pm.
Pippins Farm Apple Day run in association with Hospice in the Weald who will receive proceeds from the entry fee and other activities. Learn about how English apples are grown, see fresh juice being made, and enjoy refreshments in the old Kent Barn. We will have apple themed games for children making it an ideal family day out. Apple pressing demonstrations: free litre of fresh juice per adult (bring your own container). Apple tasting and display – from our 50 varieties. Orchard tours at 12am, 2pm, 3pm. PYO and Variety Boxes for sale. Refreshments & BBQ. Apple themed games & entertainment. Entry £3 per adult.. From A21 take A228 for Paddock Wood. Follow signs for Pembury and Hospice in the Weald. Saturday 23rd October, 10-4 pm.
Apple Festival at The Yalding Gardens, Benover Road, Yalding, Maidstone ME18 6EX. Family events during the day will include: The longest peel competition, the chance to win an apple tree, paint and print with apples, pressing your own apple juice, name that apple as well as other apple antics. If you have an apple tree which you can’t identify, bring along an apple with leaf and ask our experts. Activities from as little as 50p.
We will also display a notice board for your tried and tested apple recipes. Write them out and bring them along to stick on our board and we will create an apple recipe book to send out so everyone can enjoy this delicious seasonal fruit.
